Baby Shower Part 2
Lori's daughter Hannah set up a baby shower game for us to play and we had to taste 8 disguised baby foods and guess what they were. It was very interesting and the food for the most part was pretty yucky. I am not sure if I can remember all of them but let's see...I think they included green beans, peas (the worst! except K actually liked it), squash, pears, peaches, bananas, prunes, and another one which must not have been that memorable. I got 3 wrong and Keshav only got 2 right. He was having fun though and was the only guy to participate, so bonus points for him. Guess he got forced into it since he is the daddy after all. But, he is always up for some fun. I got the honor of going first, then my friends Barbara, Anne, and Lori went. None of the kids would do it, so Keshav got roped in and I got to feed him. It was good practice for me right, and quite fun. Everyone had great expressions on their faces after tasting each food item. Some of them pretty awful, especially after the peas!
Here are some of the exciting moments from the shower:

Sonogram at 36 weeks
So, 4 weeks to go, depending on when Baby decides to make an appearance. Lots of movement these days still but it has changed since Baby is bigger and feels like the whole body is moving. And sometimes those kicks are rather unpleasant!
We also did the final big shopping trip and are now pretty much totally ready (if that is at all possible) for Baby's arrival. We got the car seat, 2 strollers (the first of many according to our friends -much to K's dismay), the crib mattress, and other goodies you just can't pass up when in the baby store. K installed the car seat but not nearly tight enough. I took it to the Ashburn fire station and they did an awesome job making it very, very tight. How we will ever replicate that, I am not sure. So, now that the car seat is in, I am calm. Not that I thought Baby was going to arrive 4 weeks early but I was on the phone with my cousin Heather and told her we did not have the car seat yet. She just laughed and said that is the most important thing. I was then reassured that all this time my priorities were not right when saving the car seat until the last! But, now it is in the car, we can have the baby!
Anyway, all is well for now with Baby and us too...more updates soon.

34 week check up!
I am getting a bit more tired now and the heat is a killer. I don't think I have ever thought the heat was this suffocating before. I love to be outside, not this year. If I have a day where I don't have to go even to the car, I am happy. Course, it feels like it is the dog days of August already when I was hoping to miss those days seeing Baby should arrive before then. My luck that summer came on fast with those 90 degree temps this year.
Our friends visited from NYC last weekend and we had a blast. Luckily enough, we had really nice weather, not the crushing heat I was mentioning above. We spent Saturday afternoon at a winery and then headed into DC for some Ethiopian food Saturday night. Baby is getting lots of variety to eat these days! And yes, I have now been to a winery without drinking the wine. It wasn't as unpleasant as I thought. I just stuck to my sparkling lemonade and just enjoyed the food.
The one great thing about summer though is the fresh fruit and veggies!! I must say that watermelon and corn have never tasted SO good! I am just waiting for the tomatoes to come in then all will be complete with my diet for the rest of the summer.
I will be having the 36 week, and last, sonogram this Friday before delivery. If we get some good pictures I will post one and let you know how Baby is doing. We should be able to find out about how big Baby is and how all is progressing as we get closer to the big arrival. Until then...

8 Months!
Well, I am really about 81/2 months as I write this (34 weeks) but the pictures below are from a couple of weeks ago. I think since then, I have gotten even bigger. I can really tell the baby is going through a big growth spurt right now. I included the picture with my belly exposed for effect, you can't really tell in the others just how big my belly is now. Baby should be an average of 5lbs now, but each is different. This is the time of growth where the baby is putting on lots of fat and I heard it you over eat during this time your baby can really put those fat layers on!
Last time I went to the midwife, Baby was breech. That was not good news! So, I am hoping when I go back that Baby has been active enough to flip over. I have been doing every yoga pose I know to help Baby turn plus walking and swimming. I had to give up spinning a couple of weeks ago, just too tiring and uncomfortable. I never thought the day would come that I would think the last thing I want to do is get on a bike! Well, never say never! Swimming is so great though because when you get in the water, you don't even feel like you have that great big belly anymore. Course, when you come out of the pool and see yourself in a swimsuit, you are quickly reminded that you are indeed huge.
Speaking of baby activity, there is lots of it. Not just kicking anymore, but movement of all sorts. Lets hope some of those are flips. It is hard to tell just exactly what is going on in there. I read all these women talking about exactly what position their baby is in, where the feet and shoulders are. I don't seem to be that in tune with it and am not sure where baby parts are. Lots of movement though and the pattern continues that Baby is very active at night. A mom at my baby storytime was telling me that babies establish a sleeping pattern very similar to the one they will have after being born. Guess if that is the case, I will be up all night! Baby also gets hiccups frequently, that I did figure out. Very cute!
Baby listens to lots of music. A friend sent me some Brazilian and African Lullabies and I have also been trying some classical music. Also, we read Goodnight Moon every night.
So, that is what is going on with us. Check out the 8 month pictures and I will post some more when 9 months rolls around very soon...
